Cisco has recently launched its Visual Networking Index (VNI) Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast, predicting that until 2020 global mobile data traffic will increase nearly eightfold worldwide, particularly in Asia Pacific. In 2015, mobile data traffic had an exponential growth of 83% in the region, with Indonesia leading global growth at 129%, followed by China with 111% and India with 89%.

Digital and connectivity have certainly made things a lot more interesting for us all and present businesses with an unprecedented opportunity to innovate and find new streams of revenue. But what all this means to the network is very challenging and companies are reaching the breaking point where the network is no longer fast, agile or even secure enough to support the growing business demands. For companies to realise their digital vision, the network must evolve to the next level, and that’s Software Centric Networking on an industry leading hardware.

This is where Cisco is heading, by shifting to a software-driven approach that delivers automation, orchestration and really transforms the network into a strategic business asset for our customers. APIC-EM, our approach to delivering Software Defined Networking, is a personal favorite amongst Cisco’s software innovations. Imagine a network that helps you roll out thousands of branches in just minutes, to troubleshoot or build on, all in a centralized, simple and automated manner. That’s the power of APIC-EM that we begin to see transforming the IT and enterprise world… take a look!
