This year, we entered a new chapter in our long history as a leading networking company, called intent-based networking. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s all about making it possible for a lean IT to manage the large digital environments in which businesses operate in today, with agility, security and speed (instantly, really!).
At Cisco, we believe network transformation is critical to business transformation itself. They say the key to future success is the ability to rethink business in a digital world. But when it comes to realizing new value, companies need more than a handful of good ideas. They need to couple those with a smart network that makes it possible to implement them, change them and protect them in real-time - not in months, as it is standard today.
This is why we are so excited about this transition to intent-based networking. Because it provides the foundation for how our customers will reinvent their futures in a digital era, by shifting their focus from “how do we execute” to “how can we meet our customers’ expectations”. Imagine the opportunities you could pursue if you ran on a data-driven network that responds to innovation automatically, rather than spending months making box by box configurations or trying to solve user and security problems. The Network Intuitive, as we call it, will do that on its own.
Our move into next-generation networks is big, and is bold. So, obviously, it feels great to see our efforts recognized, not only by the enterprises that are changing with us, but also by the influencers in the market, particularly in APJ, where networks must catch up with the demands.
Just in the last couple of weeks, Cisco won the Network World Asia Readers’ Choice for Best Network in Switch/Router Category Award and was recognized by the APAC CIO Outlook as a Top 25 Networking Solution Provider. These publications commend our networking innovation and echo the excitement of partners, analysts and customers about some of our latest technologies that make the Network Intuitive a reality, such as Software-Defined Access, DNA Center and Encrypted Traffic Analytics (ETA). In APJ, we’re seeing great early success, as implementations continue to grow and early results prove our customers right about what an intent-based network can do for their network operations and business.
We are off to a great start, but the Network Transformation journey is certainly not complete! Every month, every quarter, every year, you’ll see us coming out with new innovation. In fact, a second wave in this intent-driven network is coming early next year, when we announce Network Assurance and other capabilities.
