SMB wins Cisco Start Challenge and embarks on journey to unlock growth
Vice President, Commercial, Asia Pacific & Japan
In October 2017, we launched the Cisco Start Challenge: SMB IT Makeover, a call for SMBs in Singapore to tell us how technology can transform their business digitally and uncover the next phase of growth for their company. There is unprecedented, fast paced digital growth in the region and we want to help SMBs be more productive, sharpen their competitive edge and to capture digital opportunities.
We received a total of 197 applications across different industries and the top three finalists were invited to deliver a pitch on how Cisco’s technology can transform their business.
We are excited to share that the manufacturer of the well-established Camel Nuts brand, Seng Hua Hng Foodstuff, has won the inaugural Cisco Start Challenge: SMB IT Makeover and the Singapore-headquartered company will receive an IT makeover with S$40,000* worth of Cisco Start products and services!
Seng Hua Hng Foodstuff stood out as they highlighted the need for traditional SMBs to digitally transform their business in order to scale up, expand and capitalise on overseas market opportunities. We are very excited to help them take the next step of their digital transformation journey and achieve greater heights with Cisco Start.
Colin Chin, Group Finance Manager of Seng Hua Hng Foodstuff, who oversees the company’s business transformation said: “We have been in the manufacturing business for 44 years and established the Camel Nuts brand in both Singapore and overseas markets. Digital transformation is our focus in the next two years to bring the next phase of our growth strategy to life. Simple, smart and secure Cisco Start technology can help our company enhance workplace connectivity and collaboration as we expand our business across international borders. With the right tools in place, and the support of our employees who are open to digital change, traditional SMBs like us can transform digitally and harness the digital economy to unlock growth.”
Following the contest, we will work closely with the Seng Hua Hng Foodstuff to transform its business with Cisco Start solutions and allow greater efficiencies at an operational level: enabling them to respond quickly to market changes, access critical business information in real time, and address evolving customer expectations.
The Cisco Start Challenge: SMB IT Makeover is part of Cisco’s goal to help local SMBs plug the technology gap so that they are well equipped to harness the region’s digital growth. This initiative is also in line with the Singapore government’s focus to help SMBs digitize and use technology to scale and compete.
